9 New Year’s resolutions for all pool owners

If you own a swimming pool, you might let little things go by the wayside from time to time. What with household chores, work and kids' errands – you're probably beat. What's the big deal about skipping backyard maintenance? Nothing really, other than the fact that doing so can cost you time and money in the long run – oh, and you have to do it later on any ways. Stop procrastinating, and let 2015 be a new beginning with these nine resolutions.

1. More chemical balances
Promise yourself that you'll get the pool chemicals balanced more frequently next year. This resolution tops the chart because it's pertinent to your sanitation and well-being. A pool that has too little or much chlorine can make the water look mucky, but also be a breeding grounds for germs that lead to a number of illnesses.

2. Replace that deck
It might seem daunting to replace your pool deck. After all, it's not nearly as exciting as buying a new wardrobe or getting the newest smartphone. But the fact of the matter is, it's only going to get worse. If not now, then when? As the years tick by, the wood will continue to rot, and it will become more of a hazard.

3. Stop the leaks once and for all
Everyone is guilty of letting a leaky faucet, clogged drain or other repair go by the wayside. But when it comes to a leaky pool, it's urgent to take care of it sooner rather than later. Put this resolution at the top of your list of priorities for 2015. Don't assume that just because you don't know your pool has a leak that it doesn't. It's a problem that can go undetected, which means a leak inspection should also be on your to-do list come January.

4. Get new pumps, motors, filters
Sure, these products typically last a few years, but when's the last time you installed a new pump, motor or filter? If you can't remember, it could be a sign that you're long overdue for one of the aforementioned features. Each of them is a crucial part of a working pool. Take care of these stat, so you don't have to postpone your other resolutions – like working out in the pool – come next year.

5. Clean those cartridges
Over time, debris and loose particles get stuck in the cartridge and fabric, which means this bad boy needs to be cleaned. Have this taken care of so your water stays clean and grime-free!

6. Have the pool drained
Is there a better time to have your pool drained than at the start of each year? After the long summer and holiday parties, it only makes sense to take care of this now. A pool draining will get rid of all of that sunscreen residue, and your water will be fresh and sparkling clean – a great way to start off on a new foot.

7. Salt system
Who says all resolutions have to be work? Treat yourself more often in 2015 and get that salt system you've always wanted. Nothing says renewal like taking a dip in a salt system pool. You'll thank yourself for it later.

8. LED lights
You know you've been meaning to have lights installed since you first got your pool. They're perfect for an evening under the stars. Not to mention, making you feel safer when you take your dog out for a midnight bathroom break.

9. Get a pool service provider
Call Fort Worth, San Diego or Phoenix pool service providers for any of the aforementioned resolutions. There's no need to tackle all of these on your own.
